Butt Circuit of Lunges, Hip Thrust, Bulgarians and Reverse Hyperextensions

I just did this workout now….If you have 20 mins this is a great BOOTY Workout. This video contains the full 2nd Day 1 workout of our MY BOOTY series (day 1 workouts in this series are the major muscle ones)

After a no weight warm up follow along for

3 rounds of the following butt Circuit

1- forward lunges 10 on each leg alternating
2- 10 hip thrusts
3- 10 Bulgarians
4- 10 reverse hypertension with bent knees on bench

I’ve had a ton of requests for more workout videos demonstrating an actual workout for an experienced level lifter who is in their BOOSTING phase.  The Boosting phase is all about lifting HEAVY with good recovery between sets.  The goal is to take about 2 minutes between each set.

SSS week 03- Mini Challenge: 100 Lunges

SSS Week #3 Mini Challenge- 100 lunges a day!!  Your mini challenge if you choose to accept it is to do 100 lunges each day this week!! That’s 100 total, so 50 each leg.

This week’s mini-challenge is one of MY FAVORITES!! To do 100 lunges a day takes mental and physical determination~ BUT I know you can do it!!!!

the way I approach the lunges are to use a VARIETY of types of lunges and to not get over zealous the first few days of the week  Most days I will opt to do just body weight lunges, but on my leg days I’ll add weight for sure.

For example:

  • On leg days- I HIT my lunges hard with WEIGHTS
    Weighted walking ones- weight on back or holding DB’s
  • Barbell Lunges
  • Smith lunges
  • Super booty smith lunges
  • On non-leg days – I do body weight lunges mostly of the walking or stationary ones.

Some variety of lunges you may want to try:

Stationary Lunges
Walking Lunges
Jumping Lunges
Side Lunges (including Skater and Jumping Side)
Box Lunge with Dumbells
Box Lunge (3 variations) body weight only
Forward Lunges
Backward Lunges
BB Foward Lunge (includes Russian variation)
BuffMother! Smith Lunges (butt emphasis)
BuffMother! Smith Lunges (basic)
Starter style Walking lunges no weight

A key point to keep your lunges working your booty is to focus on using your front leg for the majority of the movement.

And the KING of lunges for the booty have been shown to be WALKING lunges :)
You will feel them TRUST ME!!Laughing

To get more emphasis on your butt rather than your quad, remember to use your front leg for the motion and also leaning forward (chest to knee) adds extra booty emphasis.

As for my workout, I Got it done, despite…feeling like I was a big weakling. I have a photoshoot tomorrow and I typically deplete myself for shoots because I like looking ripped and small…since we all know the camera adds 15 pounds

Well, I did legs today~ boy I love a good leg workout….My favorite workouts used to be chest, but these last few months~ LEGS totally rule my world.

I love working legs (and BOOTY) because of the RESULTS!! The positive changes I’ve seen in my legs over the last 2 months are UNREAL!!! The time while I was training for my 800m race, I couldn’t lift much with my legs for about 2 months and it ended up showing…don’t get me wrong, my legs looked great, worked great and felt strong…but they were different than they were prior to slacking off from my workouts. Now from LIFTING HEAVY and close to twice every week, I have less cellulite, less fat, more shape to my booty,etc….now than 2 months ago and I am SO EXITED!!!!

HOLY COW…I woke up at 9:52 this morning! I was very tired!!

Last night I posted how I was tired and got some really funny responses to my plea:

Emotionally strong posts abound online right now, lots of 2014 recaps and lots of 2015 resolutions!! It’s fun to see!

It’s also a bit overwhelming as I try to figure out my goals for the upcomming year. Much of what I had envisioned for 2014 turned out quite differently than expected.

on the workout front, did 20+ mins on the bike in morning; Chest/Tricep/Abs and some bicep lifting plus 3.1 miles of intervals on treadmill

THE WRAP

Repeat this circuit 4 times

1)    W- Wiggle It- Stand with legs slightly further than shoulder width apart. shift weight from one side to the other lifting right hip and bending knees of left leg to do so and switch back and forth giving a “wiggle” type dancing motions.

2)    R- Running Ups- Stand holding a bar or back of chair infront of you.  Bring knee up to chest (like running) and then extending foot back behind you about 1.5 to 2 feet with a “bounce” between.  Do 15 on each leg then switch.

3)    A- Adductions- Lay on your back with feet up in the air and butt propped up with hands. Made a V with legs being sure to get it as wide as possible and then close V and repeat.  SLOW and controlled for 10 reps. You can vary foot position to emphasize certain muscles.

4)    P- Pilate UPS- Stand with toes out like a ballerina, squat down low with knees out to side then extend all the way up onto toes with arms above you.  Repeat 5 times.

It’s a Christmas Miracle!

Last night Travis delivered some sad news- that one of our chickens had been killed. It was Dottie, the one that chases butterflies and is the fearless leader of the other remaining 4 (we had 1 other killed about a month ago). It was very sad news.  We were also distraught that the kids didn’t seem to care much that she died??  It left us wondering…Is something wrong with us as parents that our kids just don’t care??

 

Well, this morning, I let the chickens out of the coop and all 5 were there, INCLUDING DOTTIE!!!! It’s a Christmas Miracle!!

 

I’m not sure where she was– but my only guess she was hiding in the coop somewhere??? It truly makes no sense– Travis checked over and over again for her last night!

 

The Choir Concert went well last night. It got me inspired a bit more for Christmas Music! (I have some on now!) and Gracie did a great job!! I’ll try to upload the itty-bitty video I got of her signing.

 

The DIET BET contest has ended!! Congrats to all who participated, I know it helped so many of us from totally going bonkers over Thanksgiving and beyond! Weight loss or even no gain over the Holidays is a WIN for sure!

 

I didn’t make my goal weight, but that’s ok…I didn’t really need to lose the “vanity” weight right now and I’ve found that in certain seasons it’s important to focus on just feeling good vs. worrying about the 1-4 pounds I’d like to eliminate…LOL! it’s all good!

 

I got my workout done yesterday and it felt very good to run outside and HOLY COW my butt can tell I haven’t run hills for about 6 weeks!  It’s sore today!!

Do this circuit 4 times~ it is not a RACE!

THE “Ham”:
Repeat this circuit 4 times
1) “H”- Hip-Ups : Place feet up on a bench (chair, box, couch, ottoman, etc) and lift hips up
5 reps slow and controlled being sure to hold the SQUEEZE for at least 2 seconds.
2) “A”- Around the Worlds: Stand holding something for balance, lift right leg out to side and move it in circle “around the world” switch legs and alternate directions on each set.
3) “M”- Money Makers: Stand with feet a bit wider than shoulder width, place right hand on hip, left hand on head and jut right hip out as you rotate slightly.

 

Big day for me here– my movie premier. Not sure what to wear on the RED CARPET, but I know whatever i choose will be fun!  May have to have ya’ll help me decide through some facebook interaction!

All over the place!

Hey Ladies, My brain and body have been all over the place. All the new stuff going on has got me working on so many fronts. It’s really a ton of fun!!

As part of my responsibilities I’ve been a bit more active on bodyspace and in the BodyBuilding.com forums. I’ve already met many new super cool along with some very “interesting” people! STARTED our www.DietBet.com/BuffMother game. All the members got a free 28 day workout/diet download and it’s ROCKING already. I weighed in this morning for it at 135.6 pounds, up a bit from BOOSTING since I’m cycle day 27.

This week’s focus is on ENDURANCE.

Did you know that part of why you can gain more endurance is to do with MITOCHONDRIA?  Mitochondria are the energy factories in your cells. As you train in the “aerobic” zone consistently your body adjust by creating MORE MITOCHONDRIA in your cells! That means MORE ENERGY for you!!  Also, the mitochondria become more efficient at producing energy as you get in shape and at BURNING FAT for fuel!!  Even though I don’t love Endurance training, I do love it’s effects!! It is important!

I’ll post more info about ENDURANCE as the week rolls on!

On the Family front, Football is over, Basketball is underway, OFF SEASON football lifting for Gunner and Track training is set to begin for me, my son and maybe even my Gracie (she’s busy with BB, but loves running too!). I’m hoping to go to a local (actually an hour away) track club a few times to see about gleaning some helpful ideas for my own club that I plan to start in April.

 

Hunting season is well underway…Travis is the only one here hunting this year. He’s not had much luck, but he’s enjoying it!

 

Now, on to workouts…

I missed yeseterday’s afternoon session but I did get in a good 30mins on the bike in the morning.

Today:

Biked 15min, Ran 15mins of intervals, Biked another 15 mins.– training my endurance, my goal by Dec 9th, is to be up to doing 1 long cardio day weekly of 60mins.

 

The plan is to lift legs/abs here in just about 30mins.

Gotta keep working on my BUTT and GUT!!

  1. cycle day- today is day 28…I don’t feel sexy, but I am feeling a bit more mojo than the past couple days.  Happy my cycle is being at least normal length again.
  2. weight- I weighed in at 132.4 today…not bad but could be better. Excited to see the scale start moving down again next week!
