Brenda’s Bio~

Hi,  I am Brenda Herrod the proud mom of 2 young adults in college and wife to Mike! I’m also a women’s health nurse practitioner in Omaha and love to promote health and fitness. I am very interested in nutrition and helping others reach their health and fitness goals. Proudly sponsored by Complete Nutrition for for 5 years. Love their products and promoting the best supps out there! 🙂 I am very proud to be a Buffmother, as well! Michelle Berger’s Hormonal Timing program is how I lost my 30 lbs in 2008 and changed my life forever! I have competed in 6 natural figure competitions and received my Pro Card in the NGA in 2014 at the Titan Classic in Urbandale, Iowa. I do personal training part time and love helping others enjoy fitness and weight training. Prior to moving to Omaha, I had been teaching nursing at a community college in Norfolk for 10 years.

Please enjoy my “BuffMother Interview” with Brenda Herrod of Omaha, Nebraska~

Hi Brenda,

First off Thanks SO MUCH for doing this and always being such a GREAT leader in BuffMother!

Q:
You have a masters in nursing, are a Nurse Practitioner, a certified personal trainer, and just recently became a precision nutrition coach…Wow, that’s a great list! What has driven you to consistently expand your health education? and what do you want to learn next??
A:
Thank you Michelle!  I absolutely love learning!  I love helping others and staying abreast of the most current research about health, fitness and nutrition.  I’m very big on prevention and ways  we can stay healthy and live life to the fullest.  I love to inspire others to be their best.  The next thing I really want to do will be determined by my next job and the direction I go.  If I end up working in oncology, I want to get certified in chemotherapy and certifications as an oncology nurse, for instance.
Q:
What was the turning point in your life that catapulted you toward your physical transformation?
A:
The turning point was turning 40.   Also having lost my parents and my brother so young, whom all had cancer.  I was super busy, teaching full time and in graduate school, but wanted to set a good example for my kids and be healthy.  I have been trying to create a healthy environment for my family in hopes to decrease environmental risks of cancer. Just because it’s in our family, doesn’t always mean it’s completely genetic.  Besides that, it just feels good to be healthy, confident and feel strong!  I wish I would have found this lifestyle and Buffmother earlier in my life.  The exercise definitely is my “antidepressant pill” and helps me feel so much better every day!
Q:
You have 2 kids in College and have been working through the new season of being an “empty nester”. What advice do you have for others entering that stage of life?
A:
Enjoy every moment with your kids and family.  Don’t wish the time away or hope it goes faster.  You only have those kids for a short time, but do everything you can to make a difference in their lives and always believe in them.  If you don’t believe in them, no one will and they won’t believe in themselves.  When you are enter empty nesting, make sure you enjoy hobbies and reconnect with old friends and family you may have lost touch with.  You will suddenly have more time on your hands and need to make time for yourself, finally if you haven’t been doing so!
Q:
Since this is a “BuffMother” interview, I have to ask…What is your favorite memory with our Team BuffMother?  and do you think you’ll be a BuffMother even when you are 90?
A:
That is a very hard question!  I have SO many, seriously!  Meeting Michelle and getting to be good friends with her, and seeing her so many times has been absolutely amazing to me.  Also what comes to mind is going to California to do the Buffmother Infomercial and feeling like a STAR with our SuperStar treatment!   Exploring California with Kathy, Deb and Lisa, and meeting other Buffmothers for the first time, like Julie, Dayle, Tracy, Tonya, KQ, and Teresa who I only knew from the Rally Room!    I loved when we hadSIX Buffmothers competing in the Bluffs Classic, Lisa, Kathy, Sherry, Theresa, and most of all, our sweet Darcie who came all the way from Florida! Having Michelle, Julie and Liz come from so far away to be our support!  haha!  As exhausted as I was from the late tanning and lack of sleep for that super day long figure competition, it was a blast!  Dancing in the nightclub by SanFrancisco and our Buffmother photoshoot of that trip too.  There are many other memories!   Seriously, being a Buffmother has been a blessing in my life with the ladies I have met and friendships made. I will definitely be a Buffmother at 90!  😀
Q:
I’m curious, what is your favorite workout at the moment?
A:
Definitely weight workouts for legs and booty! I train them more than anything else, as that is my area I need to build and have big goals for. It’s fun to see progress after years  of hard work.
Q:
As for diet, what is your mainstay healthy GO TO meal?
A:
I love broccoli, avocado and lately I have been including salmon burgers or mahi mahi burgers in my diet a lot.  I make sure the fish is wild caught and not farmed though.  I feel there are great benefits for my skin, as well as inner health and muscle building benefits!
Q:
Do you have any website or social media links you’d like to share?
I’d like to also include info on your personal training, etc..
A: I still love the Buffmother website and the Rally Room.  I have a professional page on Facebook, “Brenda Herrod, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner”  also am on Bodyspace.com as bherrod.  I am @brendaleeherrod on Instagram.  I do personal training a bit too,  using Buffmother training and Hormonal Timing Book.  Right now I am teaching cycling classes at Prairie LIfe Fitness, and once a week HIIT Class on the weekend.
