Ab Secrets: “Fab Abs” Day 12

“Fab Abs” day 12 is all about Ab Secrets!!

First off let’s talk EXERCISE~ let’s LEARN more about your tummy and how to apply exercise and diet strategies that will create an optimal waistline.

I am a big believer that ab work can be done daily…and should be done that often when you are in “REBUILDING” mode. If you want to truly transform your tummy, constant focus and EFFORT is the only way you’ll get the change you desire. It’s not just doing SIT UPS– it’s more than that– That’s why we’ve had daily EXERCISE Challenges in this contest to expose you to a variety of exercise that shape your tummy.

Fab Abs day #12 Challenge–  read the 4 pages (attached and below- click to enlarge) from my AFTER BABY ABS BOOK And DO This circuit 3x’s

“C” ABS– 10 Ab Crunches focus hard on CRUNCHING hold if for 3 seconds each crunch

“T” ABS- Plank for 20 Seconds – keeping core tight and sucked in

“E” ABS- 10 Knee ups on a bench or chair…focus on LOWERING your legs slowly- resist the stretch, take 5 seconds to lower them on each rep

All over the place!

Hey Ladies, My brain and body have been all over the place. All the new stuff going on has got me working on so many fronts. It’s really a ton of fun!!

Finished our give away 10 lucky ladies get a big box of supplements and a tshirt. Keep your eyes open for other give aways…I’m gonna be doing them often! As part of my responsibilities I’ve been a bit more active on bodyspace and in the forums. I’ve already met many new super cool along with some very “interesting” people! Makes me thankful for the sweet encouragment and privacy of

STARTED our game. All the members got a free 28 day workout/diet download and it’s ROCKING already. I weighed in this morning for it at 135.6 pounds, up a bit from BOOSTING since I’m cycle day 27.

This week’s focus is on ENDURANCE.

Did you know that part of why you can gain more endurance is to do with MITOCHONDRIA?  Mitochondria are the energy factories in your cells. As you train in the “aerobic” zone consistently your body adjust by creating MORE MITOCHONDRIA in your cells! That means MORE ENERGY for you!!  Also, the mitochondria become more efficient at producing energy as you get in shape and at BURNING FAT for fuel!!  Even though I don’t love Endurance training, I do love it’s effects!! It is important!

I’ll post more info about ENDURANCE as the week rolls on!

Have our next batch of HT Pills on it’s way…should be able to open up for sale again at the end of the month! Set to work on getting some of these HT PILL Success Stories integrated into our marketing   AWESOME STUFF! is rollin’ right along, more orders coming in and more work to be done on that too! It’s a fun “SOLUTION” to promote! I’m working on a “SPECIAL REPORT” type give away and promo campaign to gain visibility. Also, set putting up more info on my website, taking some good photos and doing more videos about the meals very soon!

Thursday night at 5:15, I’m teaching “Insulin and Thyroid” Class again. Anyone local is free to come “on the house” as my guest! It’s in Bentonville at Project Wellness by Krispy Kreme)1400 SE Walton Blvd., Ste 28, Bentonville, AR 72712

On the Family front, Football is over, Basketball is underway, OFF SEASON football lifting for Gunner and Track training is set to begin for me, my son and maybe even my Gracie (she’s busy with BB, but loves running too!). I’m hoping to go to a local (actually an hour away) track club a few times to see about gleaning some helpful ideas for my own club that I plan to start in April.

Hunting season is well underway…Travis is the only one here hunting this year. He’s not had much luck, but he’s enjoying it!

Now, on to workouts…

I missed yeseterday’s afternoon session but I did get in a good 30mins on the bike in the morning.

Biked 15min, Ran 15mins of intervals, Biked another 15 mins.– training my endurance, my goal by Dec 9th, is to be up to doing 1 long cardio day weekly of 60mins.

The plan is to lift legs/abs here in just about 30mins.

Gotta keep working on my BUTT and GUT!!

Time for me to roll!

Lot’s to do,

With the theme of revisiting success I found this helpful post about the 6 E’s of Success~

I’m continually learning and striving to be better…I’ve also had the pleasure of being able to coach MANY other women towards their success.

Here are The 6 E’s for Success ~as I see them!

  1. Expect
  2. Educate
  3. Engage
  4. Empower
  5. Edify
  6. Encourage

Let me expand on them a bit for you~ The 6 E’s for Success

  1. Expect~ Prior to success happening in any area of our life we must set our EXPECTATIONS for success.  I expect that each and every person I encounter is on a journey toward success. They have untapped potential and they have a HUGE mission that they are destined to accomplish.  I believe in those expectations often more times than that person does. I expect excellence, I expect effort, I expect change, I expect blessing, I expect challenge (fire is needed to sharpen iron), I expect courageous behavior, I expect supernatural energy, etc… In order to succeed you must raise your EXPECTATIONS above a mediocre standard.  Shoot for the STARS! Just this week during my first deer hunting in 16 years my husband mentioned that we must go into each hunt with the “EXPECTATION” of seeing a huge buck. That mindset will carry over into our preparations, our actions during the hunt and ultimate lead to the success or failure of our experience.  EXPECT the Best~ and BELIEVE it’s possible for you to do the impossible!
  2. Educate- I believe we were made for continual learning.  Constantly striving increase your knowledge base especially about things that impact your life and your goals in life is God’s plan for us~ we have insane brains that need to be used!  I don’t expect everyone to have as much passion as I do for certain topics (fitness, diet, supplements, sports, etc&hellip, and so I take it upon myself to help EDUCATE others in an interesting yet uncomplicated manner. I am a teacher and love teaching others what I KNOW~ but you each of us need to embrace the truth that learning doesn’t happen by OSMOSIS.  It’s our responsibility to educate ourselves through reading, listening, observing, trying, doing and at times failing.  We can’t sit around and wait for someone else to do it for you…you need to be your own self advocate.  Education is not only book learning…it’s putting what you learn into action. Dig into every piece of knowledge you can about the topics that impact you and your goals. Learning takes TIME, effort and dedication; Be Patient with it, there is NO expert born overnight.  In the book “Outliers” by Malcom Gladwell, he spoke about the fact that 10,000 hours of TIME was needed for someone to become a master at something.  Don’t expect to be an expert overnight. But instead look to the help of “EXPERTS” to educate you…Strive to learn from the best!
  3. Engage- People are our greatest resource.  Engaging with others who are successful or at least passionate about similar goals is vital to success. You can learn tons about how they’ve found success, creative ideas for implementation of ideas, camaraderie (mutual trust and friendship among people who spend a lot of time together), motivation and healthy competition by ENGAGING with others.  God truly populated this earth and created us for relationship. ENGAGING with others exponentially increases synergy. Synergy is theenergy that we get from working with others towards common goals.  It rocks!  Together Everyone Accomplishes More! TEAM!
  4. Empower- This goes hand in hand with the first 3 e’s.  You will become EMPOWERED with the confidence, belief and knowledge about how to attain your goals from setting high expectations, educating yourself and by engaging with others who have accomplished similar goals.  Also, small successes lead to becoming empowered.  One good choice, One more discovery, one more confidence boost, one more day of having faith, etc…all build the power of your focus and EMPOWER you toward more success.  Other things also empower you…are your time with GOD.  God is the God of Power, believing that He’s got good blessings in store for you.  Believing in His Unconditional LOVE for you will allow you to operate in a new found confidence that is AMAZING!  Feeling secure in your mission on the earth and God’s plan for you to PROSPER is very empowering.   Empowerment also comes from ANGER…getting a “REVENGE” attitude at times causes us to really be stronger than we ever imagined.  RAW anger at your current status in life can help you feel the power you need to take action towards your goals.  Empowerment creates momentum in your life towards action.  Momentum can roll either direction– towards your goals or away…Get EMPOWERED with a momentum that brings success!!
  5. Edify-The most successful people in the world NEVER got there on their own.  Those who pretend to have attained greatness without the help of others are living a lie. To be a true success in anything you had others there to assist you.  Be sure to EDIFY their participation as you find success.  Edifying others is a hard skill to learn and often difficult because it takes effort, action and a selfless attitude.  Giving credit to others who help you, support you, enable you, encourage you, teach you and inspire you are vital to true success!  Edification of others shows that you are respectful and honorable…both qualities that attract others who want to help you become even more successful.  Edification is different than encouragement or even thankfulness.  It is an unsolicited public acknowledgement of others contributions to your success.

    Romans 14:19

    American Standard Version (ASV)

19 So then let us follow after things which make for peace, and things whereby we may edify one another.

  6. Encourage-It’s no secret that I feel the BEST way to stay motivated and excited towards your own goals is to ENCOURAGE others towards theirs.  It’s magic how much accountability encouraging others creates within yourself.  I’ve been asked countless times on how I stay motivated to stay in shape year after year. Let me tell you one thing, It’s not that I get ENCOURAGED to keep at it more than the average person.  It is instead that I GIVE OUT way more encouragement to others than the average person.  Motivation comes from deep within our soul, the power of ENCOURAGING another toward similar goals makes us want to rise higher to be a shining example for them.  We glean from their excitement and their accomplishments towards their personal success.

I know I need to be continually reminded to PRACTICE these 6 E’s for Success!

I plan to keep this list at the forefront of my mind in 2014 and I plan to ACT out EACH of the 6 E’s on toward BIG SUCCESSES!!  I pray that you do too!! We can change the world for good!!

Your friend,

One Month!

I’ve got one month before my birthday~ so the count down is on, but honestly I am not in a “DIRE” mode to get in shape for my special day for once! It probably been about 5 or 6 years since I’ve felt this good about my fitness a month away from my Birthday! It feels GREAT!

Sorry I didn’t make the chat my internet was down

Today’s Hot Hiney post is here:

I’m heading out for a run in just a couple mins~ then I’ll be taping our next couple of HH sandwich vids- the BLT and the PBJ! YUMMY!
Have a great day!

Favorites February!! Day 1: I RUN!

I am a Runner…Yeah it’s true!  I try to deny it constantly.  I RUN AWAY from the term “runner” and always have! When I was in Track and Cross Country as a teen my classmates would always ask me: why do you like running so much?” My answer was– “I DON’T Like it, I am just GOOD at it, so I do it.” As I’ve matured and gone through years without being able to run due to injury…I now admit I do love it.  It’s such an effective way to stay in shape and during my runs I thank GOD for the gift of running HE’s given me!  Running is vital to my success and it’s my favorite form of cardio.  I don’t run FAR and I don’t jog. I RUN fast!  I am more about how fast I can run than increasing my distance.  The longest run I EVER do is less than 4 miles.  Most of my runs contain intervals. I’ll pick up my speed for a bit (most often 1 minute) and then decrease my speed for a bit, repeating this during the entire run.  Another one of my FAVORITE types of runs this past year has been doing trail hills.  Hills intensify the run a lot without a lot of mental focus…which is good for this mentally challenged momma, lol!10150420745205055

This month I’d like to get to know you better by doing a bit of a Challenge daily…Let’s post about our FAVORITES this February.  Knowing more about you will help me help you with info you crave!! Feel free to share!!

SSS2012 Finalist – Kathleen H. of CA

Kathleen!! I am so proud of you~ Your new “Happy Hour” is truly transforming you–in mind, body, and spirit!! It’s so cool that one of our origianl TEAM BuffMother members, Jennifer of Austria, helped encourage you along in your journey!!  I love how your tummy shrunk over the 70 days and how you are pressing forward to the goal of washboard abs by age 50. I have a feeling you may have them by 49!! Keep rockin’ it!!

Name:  Kathleen H of CA
Number of children:  18 year old daughter
Age:  48

Why did you enter the “SuperSTAR Success” contest by BuffMother?  I joined the BuffMother team SuperSTAR Success contest because I needed the motivation to tone up and shed fat.  Taking my “before” photo was a mind opening experience.  I had no idea I had let myself get so overweight and out of shape until I saw that photo and I was immediately motivated!

What tactics did you use to stay focused and engaged for the entire 70 days?  I have always eaten clean and I exercise regularly.  However, I just started a new job, in a new city surrounded by new people and I fell prey to their ways.  Instead of working out at the end of the day, I headed to “happy hour” with the gang.  It was the useless calories of alcohol that really did me in.  So guess what I did?  I created my own “happy hour”!  That is what I labeled my workouts and it really worked for me and kept me focused.  Just as I reasoned that I earned a happy hour cocktail in the past, I flipped that around in my brain and told myself I “earned” my happy hour workout.  And it made me MUCH happier to workout than to sit around and drink after work.  That is for sure!

I also had support from my best friend Jennifer Franklin, who is a Buffmother contest winner herself.  I emailed her every day (she lives in Austria, I live in the US) what I did for my workouts and how I was feeling.  On the days when I was down and feeling like I was not gaining anything from all the effort, she put me straight and got me back on track.   She likened the experience to removing paper towels from a roll of paper towels.  And that the first couple towels you peel off, dont show, the roll looks big but as you keep peeling off the towels the effect is greater and you can see the difference.  Believe it or not, that visual really helped me to keep pushing forward.

I also made a point of letting everyone at work know that I was in this contest so that they did not tempt me or invite me to join them for beer or offer me pizza or other fattening goodies they tend to have delivered into the office.

How do you feel about your success?   I am glad I stuck with the program all the way – even when I was traveling extensively.  I sought out the gym and did not head to the bar with the rest of the crew on my countless road trips.  And guess who was always happy and peppy the next day?  You guessed right – the “new happy hour girl”!!

I see this as the first step towards my fitness goals.  I still have a long way to go in my quest for washboard abs by my 50th birthday but this contest put me on the right path.  I am now looking forward to new goals to shoot for.  By making it to the end of this contest I have proven that I have the stamina and motivation to attain my ultimate goal of fitness.
What obstacles did you have to overcome in order to attain your goals?  I had to change my entire mindset towards how I relaxed and decompressed after a long day at work.  It used to be that I worked hard so I figured I could play hard.  Now, when I finish a long day of work, I know the best thing I can do for myself is to hit that gym and start my happy hour workout.  By the time I am finished, I have forgotten all about what happened at work and instead am focused on how strong I now am and how many reps, sets and lbs I have lifted.  Much better!!

What would you like to tell the world about BuffMother ?  BuffMother is an amazing community of women helping women.  Seeing pictures of you, Michelle, so fit and rock hard is a great motivator for me.  No longer can a woman blame her rolly polly belly on the fact she had children.  My goodness!  You had four and are fit beyond compare so there really is no excuse not to shine.

The way the team at BuffMother cheers one another on and supports each other is priceless.  Especially, if you are in a situation like I am wherein I  don’t have anyone around me that works out or cares about fitness.  It gave me a virtual group of friends I could hear from and read about and relate to.

Oh!  And the mini-challenges are fantastic!  What a great way to add a layer of fitness on top of the regular plan.  I have made a point of adding 100 reps of a certain exercise each week to my normal fitness routine.  It adds an element of fun to the schedule.

Can I have your permission to post your entry and photos online?  Yes

Shine in 49 Runner Up – Dayle Stevens

Name:  Dayle Stevens of ID

Number of children and ages (it’s okay if you have 0):  2 girls (11 and 7)

Age:  38

What tactics did you use to stay focused and engaged for the entire 49 days?  I stayed active in the Rally Room and surrounded myself with others doing the same challenge.

How do you feel about your success?  I am extremely pleased!  I didn’t lose a million inches but I feel more solid!!!  My body feels more dense and my muscles feel like there is more content/structure.   My strength is increasing and my body is changing in shape!!!  I loved the photo prep, esp. the 2 gallon and salt manipulation…got to see how low I could go for an event.  J

What obstacles did you have to overcome in order to attain your goals?  Life!  This is the busiest time for me at work so I really had to commit to my gym time.  I was tired running all day long and really had to time my eats so focus was on food as fuel.

What would you like to tell the world about BuffMother ?  Do not give up!  It does not matter where you have been, what matters is where you are about to go and can help you on your journey!

Can I have your permission to post your entry online?  YES!

Shine in 49 Runner Up – Sarah Pacia

Name: Sarah Pacia of RI
Number of children and ages (it’s okay if you have 0): 2 boys ages 6 and 2
Age: 41

Why did you enter the “Shine in 49” contest by BuffMother? I entered because I want to win!   I am excited to be in a contest.  I also joined the contest because I know how great Michelle is at motivating me and how knowledgeable she is.  This contest also fell at the perfect time to get in shape for bikini weather.

What tactics did you use to stay focused and engaged for the entire 49 days? The mirror is a great tool!  The group on facebook also kept me going.  Every time I would hear about someone else’s great results it pushed me to try harder.  I felt so good working out and seeing results. I care about myself and want to feel good about me and my body.

How do you feel about your success? I feel good about my results.  My clothes fit better and I am confident in my workouts and in wearing shorts!

What obstacles did you have to overcome in order to attain your goals? I had to be flexible when finding a time to work out.  My husband is a firefighter and is gone at off hours and I have 2 young boys with no family nearby to help with childcare.  The gym I belong to does not provide childcare.  Another obstacle is I live in a house of white carb lovers but overtime the temptation of eating foods that go against my goals went away!  I also work in Boston part time and when I’m gone it’s for 12 hours a day.  Really, none of the obstacles slowed me down much, I had a goal in sight to get in the best shape I can over the 7 weeks.

What would you like to tell the world about BuffMother ? I’ve been telling anyone who I speak with about working out that I’m in the contest and how Michelle had 4 children in 4 years and won several competitions the following year.  I also tell them how she helps other moms and women get in shape online and offers so much help and support.

Can I have your permission to post your entry online? Yes

Before and After Pictures

6-9-12  Hi Michelle,

Thank you so much for holding this contest and providing such great and helpful information that I am going to continue to use towards my goal of being fit and in the best shape of my life!

I’m having a really hard time choosing 1 after photo so am attaching 1 before and 2 after…I’m sorry if that’s a bother!  I want to show you my back and my abs.  I love to do core exercise 🙂  I feel like it keeps me strong in my workouts and in every day life.  My true before and after picture if I had to choose would be the 2 pictures from behind.

You have done wonderful things for me including helping me feel good about myself and I can’t thank you enough!  Thanks again for giving me so much. I will continue to spread the word about buffmother!

Your friend,

Shine in 49: Day 25~ Conference Call Recording

We are now halfway done with the contest!!
I’m having good success but also know these final 24 days will bring the most results for me!!  As I shared on our call my biggest success from the first half  of our contest has been that I finally feel “in shape”!!  I have been struggling since being sick in October/November of last year to get that feeling back!  It had seemed for months that I was PLODDING along pushing hard just to regain some sort of fitness level- always PLANTING ENERGY, but not getting any back.  NOW I feel like I’m harvesting energy from my workouts~ I feel the energy coming back to me finally after 6 months of PLANTING!! YAY!! I can’t wait to see where I can take it!! I’m going to the next level baby– right now I’m shining like a 40 watt bulb, but by the end of 49 days I’ll be at 100WATTS!!

Our conference call today was about measuring success and also why the scale goes up sometimes even when we think we are doing everything right.  One of the key points I must share is,  “you MUST be thankful for the success you have in order for you to blessed with more!”

If you missed the call- here’s the link to listen:

Sorry the call had some rough audio…that happens sometimes. I am thinking next week, that I may do a video chat instead of our call??  Not sure, but it’s an idea- I really enjoyed the interaction at the end of the call~ so maybe that’s what the whole call should entail??  Any input would be great!

Okay- my workout for today is: full body lifting and a run– I’m looking forward to it!!
Have a great Thursday!!
