“T” abs challenge: Fab Abs Day #5

Day #5 is upon us in our focus on our ABS or Core or Tummy or Pooch or Gut or Beer Belly Laughing

Okay so you get the point…we are in a continual war against our belly and constantly use our core in basically every move we make, so It is vital that we work towards keeping it strong!

In you workout today, and as you go through your be constantly focused in tightening and engaging your core.

The Day #5 Fab Abs Challenge is to do at least 15 vacuums of about 10 seconds each as you go through your day!

Vacuums are simply sucking in your tummy!
I find they produce HUGE results~ they work your
TRANSVERSE abs. “T-ABS”

These are highly important muscles that act as a “girdle” around your waist. The muscles run HORIZONTALLY and HOLD your organs in place.
They get stretched out from pregnancy, weight gain, inactivity, sickness and they need to be rebuilt!!  VACUUMS will do just that!
T ABS are worked whenever you practice good posture, and will respond even quicker if you aggressively work at rebuilding them through
exercises like vacuums.

One of the easiest ways to do them is to stand with your hands on your knees and suck your tummy in. Try to pull your belly button to your spine. You can do vacuums anywhere anytime- I did some last night while brushing my teeth and this morning sitting in the car.

Remember it works if you WORK IT!!

God Bless,

Michelle

Rays of LIGHT!

We’ve had very little sunshine here this month…the forcast keeps calling for sunshine, but then it’s overcast all day or decides to RAIN? BUT today, right now it’s sunny!! YAY!!

Today is Day #6 of our contest– “FEAR of Bulking”?? ~Day #6 HH~

My plan is to enjoy the outdoors for several hours today, then get in a good solid BACK workout + some intervals.  Not sure what the intervals will be except for that they will not be RUNNING.

Yesterday, I did fasted cardio on the upright bike for 25mins; then did some walking and jogging on the treadmill followed by some plyo work- lots of jumping!  Then, I ran hills– Did them a bit different.  I ran to the bottom of our hill, then up for 1 min/down for 1 min x5 times then upped my recovery time to 2 mins (1walking/1running) in between the final 3 hills.  It was a good fun different way to do it! After the run I did some HIGH KNEES, a few lunges and booty pops in the mirror.

Yesterday’s topic was below the butt!

I also tested my hip flexor a bit– I think it’s ready to try sprinting again!!

Thursday got crazy busy so somehow I ran out of time to do my full leg workout– the good news is that I did get in my HEAVY Squats.  My best set was 175×6 after which I thought- I’m gonna try 185#– only did it 1time…but IT COUNTS!! My knees and hips can tell I upped the weight.

Have a good one and be sure to share/promote the BuffMother’s Day Special!!

thanks!

Love, Michelle

Suck IT IN, baby!!

Title : Re: Herbal Remedies for Breasts
——————————————————————————–
Q:
Hi, I wanted to know your thoughts on herbal remedies for breast enhancement. I have had 3 babies who are now all in their teens. With age and significant weight loss recently I have found that my breasts have totally “lost their starch”. I have read that herbal remedies can promote hormones to enhance this problem. As a mother and woman into fitness, can you tell me if these are worth while? I really have no desire to have surgery for improvement and know that your theories through your website are hormonal based. I would be most grateful for any of your thoughts on this subject.

A:
Well,
Despite big promises, don’t believe the hype. Herbal supplements don’t work to regain breast tissue. I personally tried it, lol!
Great job on getting back in shape as a mother and know that a great body outweighs having boobs any day.
BTW- I’ve never regretted my breast augmentation or have known any woman who has regretted it:)

Take care!

Title : Re: Creatine?
——————————————————————————–
Q:
Hi buffmother~
I just read your article on creatine for women, I think that it would be beneficial for me to start taking it. Would you mind giving me a recommendation on your favorite brand/type?
Thanks!

A:
I personally prefer creatine that is in a punch form…Like 6 star brand Creatine, BSN NO-EXPLODE or I’ve also taken the Body Fortress Creatine Punch from Wal-mart…it’s good.
The key is to take it consistently and LIFT HEAVY and often while on it 🙂
Go for it!

Title : Re: tips for beginners..
——————————————————————————–
Q:
when and/or how often do you change your workouts? as far as lifting, that is…. also, any tips you may have for a beginner, i would love to hear! thanks!

A:
HI! thanks for your nice friend request and note!
I us my Hormonal Timing training program. the program consists of 2 – 2 week phases~ so every 2 weeks I change things up.
As for beginner tips, stay focused on creating consistency in your workout routine. I started with the goal of working out every other day. NO EXCUSES– once I got that habit down I upped my frequency. Also, remember the fact “Muscle Burns Fat” so strive to build and keep muscle on your body~ it is the key to you getting lean.

thanks! and BELIEVE you can reach your goals!!

Title : Re: some insight
——————————————————————————–
Q:
hello I wanted to say hello and say that I think you look great. I am currently getting ready to start my goal to fitness. I have always read about it wanted to be that person with great abs and toned body but struggled to make it happen but I am now on a mission starting this week to make a difference in myself and I am looking for motivation and others who have been there and accomplished it and you look to have done that and you look great. My goal is to loose weight of course and with that gain muscle and get toned I like muscle and would love to someday see it on me. Can I asked what worked for you? I know all our bodies are different but some insight is always great. I am going to start a 3 month program of weights cardio and healthy eating I just know the first month is always the hardest for me to get past. Any input would be awesome and appreciated. Keep up the great work.

Be HAPPY in the process~ Shine in 49: Day 37

HI!! my Happy Friends!! I am so happy you are my friends~ I am a very lucky lady!

Sunday,  we didn’t make it to church but we did watch a message on TV by Joel Osteen– He spoke about REDEEMING our TIME. Meaning to use our time wisely and to be HAPPY in the process. It does no good for us to WASTE our time on being negative, grumpy, worried, stressed, anxious, bitter, unforgiving, jealous, etc….

The message was a great reminder to me to be HAPPY NOW~ to enjoy the JOURNEY toward my goals~ to JUST be happy!! I am going to focus hard on this…I want to be known as a happy person by everyone I know!!

My goal for this next week is to add in more cardio and to simply eat  HEALTHY!!
I’m starting my buffing phase today, just in time to see some nice FINAL results for our
contest– we have just 13 days left!!

Our mini-challenge for this 6th week is “NO DAIRY”~

My POA for the week is to do my MINI-CHALLENGE of NO DAIRY, get more intervals/cardio in, and to get back to more of a non-vacation attitude…Memorial Day is OVER!  I missed my workout yesterday- so my streak ended at 14 days of working out in a row– my goal is to keep striving to workout every day until my b-day– so despite not hitting my goal 100%, I am still going for it!!  I keep fighting even if a lose a battle once in a while!

Th-chest, intervals (running)
F-Legs
Sa-Back, intervals (running)

Cold hard truth!

The cold hard truth hit me last night regarding my diet…I’ve been a super slacker and I am a carb addict (have been for ages…but I’m in a relapse!).  I ended up eating way to much dairy and gluten for my poor tummy to handle yesterday and ended up with a tummy ache all night and part of this morning.  The distance between what I KNOW works for me in my diet and the ACTUALLY DOING IT is way to far right now!! The cold hard truth is that I need to put much more effort into my food choices.

In order to break my current carb addiction I am going very low carb for the next couple of weeks– it’s going to coorelate perfectly with my buffing phase and hopefully catapult me towards a successful training period for the Warrior Dash.  There’s just about 58 days of training left befor the event!!

My plan to run yesterday never happened…my DD was still sick, so I spent the afternoon at the DR’s office with her.  She’s doing better today– NO FEVER FINALLY, so she’ll make it to school tomorrow, YAY~!!  Today’s cycle day 3 for me, I have more energy than the past 2– I have slept and insane amount the past 3 days!  I guess my body likes to make up for the BAD SLEEP it gets during the last week of each cycle….

My plan for today will be to get to the gym EARLY so I can tan and run on the treddy before my son arrives for our lifting session.  We have legs on tap!  It should be a GREAT workout!!  Here’s the tenative line up: Leg Press, Knee ups on bench, Walking lunges, High Knees, Bulgarians, Laying side leg raises, Smith Lunges, Butt Squats, lower back/booty extensions.

Low, Low Carb will be tough, but I need to do it to “reset” my body and mind!! Time to be HONEST and face the reality of my own weakness!

I can do it!!

-Michelle
