#3-FinishingThoughts:
Where are you in your journey?  I’ve made major progress over the last 10 weeks.  I lost the remainder of my baby weight and then some and I’m feeling stronger, more confident and happy to be back in my pre-pregger clothes.  My daily habits have adapted considerably and take less thought…like my water intake, protein and green focused meals, etc.

Did you reach your goals and aspirations?  Yes, my goal was to be more fit at 32 and after two babies than before.  I’m  feeling leaner than before and have been bit by the lifting bug.  I hadn’t focused on strength training since college so it’s amazing to be back at it.

Where do you see this challenge brought you?  It brought back some of my focus to me when I was accustomed to caring for everyone else first.  Now, at least I’m on the daily agenda!

Do you have any lingering concerns?  No, just hoping to recommit and focus on my next goals.

Do you feel you made an impact on your legacy during this contest?  Yes!  I’ve got my mojo back!

your WHY?  I want to show my daughter, now 7 months old, how to be a strong and confident woman and lead my family by example. I tell myself all the time…be the example and also challenge= change! J

Did you feel the support group helped you stay on track?  Yes, I enjoy the rally room but read more than blogging myself.  I’ve fallen off over the last several weeks but look forward to staying connected.  Knowing there is a network of women out there striving toward similar goals is motivating and  inspiring.  Plus, whenever I have posted, I got great feedback and positive boosts from the ladies.

What tactics did you use to stay focused and engaged for the entire 70 days?  I set my POA every Sunday and making those intentions a conscious decision helped me.  Also, making sure I kept the house stocked with my good eats was crucial.

Did you reward yourself when you hit certain goals along the way?  Yep, I finally got my hair cut since having the babe!

What other thoughts are in your head at the moment?  I loved the weekly challenges and will miss those or have to set them for myself again!  My favorite weeks were the 100 lunges a day, 10 vacuums per day and the three greens a day.

#4- Comment about your HORMONES
Did you GET to know your body? Yes and no.  I still don’t have a cycle due to nursing  and have been tracking how I feel but I think it will take a few more months for me to figure out my c-days.

Did you learn about your good c-days, your bad c-days, your weight fluctuations, etc?… Sort of.. I had much more awareness of my body and  how I was feeling.  It was the first time I was really evaluating how I felt daily and considered the impact that hormones could be playing.  Before this challenge, I never even considered hormones as a factor.  OF course with two small kids, I always assumed my physical and mental state was a reflection on how much sleep we were getting.  Now, I’m aware of our sleep but also hormones, water, nutrition, etc.
Did anything surprise you?  Yes, I was really concerned about nursing and keeping up my production while upping my workouts and changing my diet with significantly more greens.  I worried that it could make our baby, Joy, gassy or something if my milk changed.  Thankfully, It hasn’t had any negative impact on that front. Yay!

#5- Favorite Journal/Blog Posts
take a peek back at your blogs– what were some of your favorite entries from the 10 weeks?  Probably just my enthusiasm and eagerness at the beginning of the 10 weeks.

Did anyone else’s impact you along the way?  Yes, definitely.  I love that the RR is filled with women of all ages and stages of fitness.   Whether someone was prepping for a competition or just trying to lose some lbs, the group is very inviting and supportive.  They continue to inspire me to get better!

SSS2012 Finalist – Kathleen H. of CA

Kathleen!! I am so proud of you~ Your new “Happy Hour” is truly transforming you–in mind, body, and spirit!! It’s so cool that one of our origianl TEAM BuffMother members, Jennifer of Austria, helped encourage you along in your journey!!  I love how your tummy shrunk over the 70 days and how you are pressing forward to the goal of washboard abs by age 50. I have a feeling you may have them by 49!! Keep rockin’ it!!

Name:  Kathleen H of CA
Number of children:  18 year old daughter
Age:  48

Why did you enter the “SuperSTAR Success” contest by BuffMother?  I joined the BuffMother team SuperSTAR Success contest because I needed the motivation to tone up and shed fat.  Taking my “before” photo was a mind opening experience.  I had no idea I had let myself get so overweight and out of shape until I saw that photo and I was immediately motivated!

What tactics did you use to stay focused and engaged for the entire 70 days?  I have always eaten clean and I exercise regularly.  However, I just started a new job, in a new city surrounded by new people and I fell prey to their ways.  Instead of working out at the end of the day, I headed to “happy hour” with the gang.  It was the useless calories of alcohol that really did me in.  So guess what I did?  I created my own “happy hour”!  That is what I labeled my workouts and it really worked for me and kept me focused.  Just as I reasoned that I earned a happy hour cocktail in the past, I flipped that around in my brain and told myself I “earned” my happy hour workout.  And it made me MUCH happier to workout than to sit around and drink after work.  That is for sure!

I also had support from my best friend Jennifer Franklin, who is a Buffmother contest winner herself.  I emailed her every day (she lives in Austria, I live in the US) what I did for my workouts and how I was feeling.  On the days when I was down and feeling like I was not gaining anything from all the effort, she put me straight and got me back on track.   She likened the experience to removing paper towels from a roll of paper towels.  And that the first couple towels you peel off, dont show, the roll looks big but as you keep peeling off the towels the effect is greater and you can see the difference.  Believe it or not, that visual really helped me to keep pushing forward.

I also made a point of letting everyone at work know that I was in this contest so that they did not tempt me or invite me to join them for beer or offer me pizza or other fattening goodies they tend to have delivered into the office.

How do you feel about your success?   I am glad I stuck with the program all the way – even when I was traveling extensively.  I sought out the gym and did not head to the bar with the rest of the crew on my countless road trips.  And guess who was always happy and peppy the next day?  You guessed right – the “new happy hour girl”!!

I see this as the first step towards my fitness goals.  I still have a long way to go in my quest for washboard abs by my 50th birthday but this contest put me on the right path.  I am now looking forward to new goals to shoot for.  By making it to the end of this contest I have proven that I have the stamina and motivation to attain my ultimate goal of fitness.
What obstacles did you have to overcome in order to attain your goals?  I had to change my entire mindset towards how I relaxed and decompressed after a long day at work.  It used to be that I worked hard so I figured I could play hard.  Now, when I finish a long day of work, I know the best thing I can do for myself is to hit that gym and start my happy hour workout.  By the time I am finished, I have forgotten all about what happened at work and instead am focused on how strong I now am and how many reps, sets and lbs I have lifted.  Much better!!

What would you like to tell the world about BuffMother ?  BuffMother is an amazing community of women helping women.  Seeing pictures of you, Michelle, so fit and rock hard is a great motivator for me.  No longer can a woman blame her rolly polly belly on the fact she had children.  My goodness!  You had four and are fit beyond compare so there really is no excuse not to shine.

The way the team at BuffMother cheers one another on and supports each other is priceless.  Especially, if you are in a situation like I am wherein I  don’t have anyone around me that works out or cares about fitness.  It gave me a virtual group of friends I could hear from and read about and relate to.

Oh!  And the mini-challenges are fantastic!  What a great way to add a layer of fitness on top of the regular plan.  I have made a point of adding 100 reps of a certain exercise each week to my normal fitness routine.  It adds an element of fun to the schedule.

Name:  Dayle Stevens of ID

Number of children and ages (it’s okay if you have 0):  2 girls (11 and 7)

Age:  38

What tactics did you use to stay focused and engaged for the entire 49 days?  I stayed active in the Rally Room and surrounded myself with others doing the same challenge.

How do you feel about your success?  I am extremely pleased!  I didn’t lose a million inches but I feel more solid!!!  My body feels more dense and my muscles feel like there is more content/structure.   My strength is increasing and my body is changing in shape!!!  I loved the photo prep, esp. the 2 gallon and salt manipulation…got to see how low I could go for an event.  J

What obstacles did you have to overcome in order to attain your goals?  Life!  This is the busiest time for me at work so I really had to commit to my gym time.  I was tired running all day long and really had to time my eats so focus was on food as fuel.

What would you like to tell the world about BuffMother ?  Do not give up!  It does not matter where you have been, what matters is where you are about to go and BuffMother.com can help you on your journey!

#2-Beginning/Ending STATS-

Beginning (April 28, 2012) VERSUS Ending (June 10, 2012)

CD: 14………………..27

weight: 128…………122.5 (picture day 6/9) 125# on stats day 6/10

chest: 36.5…………..37

bust: 36………………37

shoulders: 40……….39.5

biceps: 11…………..11

waist: 28.5………….27.5

hips: 35.5……………35

thigh (12″): 21.5…..21.75

thigh (7″): 19………19.25

calf: 13.5……………14

And the Scale goes DOWN>>>>

Down to 124.8 this morning!! That’s 5 pounds since Sunday, YAY!!  I’ve been taking a capsule of Mangodrin daily since Monday and I know it’s helped me with the little extra “boost” I needed to get my eating and workouts back on track.

I ran early again today:
3.5 miles total intervals during the first 15 mins…then during
one stretch I competed with myself on and “out and back”…the out was from the time of 12:30 to 18:30…so 6 mins.  The back was from the time of 18:30 to 23:15 so 4 mins and 45 seconds…and it was on a slight uphill grade.

The time at the 3 mile marker was 23:30…so that’s a 30 second improvement from the last time I ran the same route about 2 weeks ago. My overall time was 27:30 for the 3.5 miles (which included 1:30 sec of a walk) after my hard out/back segment 🙂

I had an amazing conversation with Sherry after my run. She’s so full of insight and delightful energy. I could talk for her for 5 days straight!!  We are getting her ready to hit the stage for a contest at the end of October.  We talked a ton about it, but also so many other topics: track, kids, husbands, sales, education, missions, fundraising, California, Kenisha’s contest journey, Brenda’s contest, infomercials, ski trips, trips to Nebraska/Council Bluffs, trips to Arkansas, trips to the beach, etc….  Thanks for the great call Sherry!!

Later today, I have a meeting about amping up my local business efforts, but first I must go pick my 3 sweet little ladies up from school- they have 1 week left.

Have a wonderful FRIENDLY FRIDAY!!

-Michelle

Age- “39” and holding!!! 🙂
*Beginning weight – for Buffmother – 15 weeks ago – 141 lbs
*Beginning weight for SSS Contest – 10 weeks ago – 136 lbs
*Ending weight for SSS Contest – 118.5!!!!! (today 118!)

*Total loss = 23 lbs

*TOTAL inches lost = 36.25 inches!!!!!!! (gained ONE on calves)
*Body Fat % – 28.9% – 20% and NOW 16.3% at the END of SSS Contest!!!!!!!!

*Total Body Fat loss in 10 weeks = 12.6%

*Was wearing size 8-10 in clothing (pants, jeans…now can fit into size 4’s, 3’s and 2’s!!!!!) I love this change!!!!!

*Where are you in your journey?

I am very pleased with where I am at now. I want to MAINTAIN where I am at and continue to build muscle too. I plan to work on sculpting my abs, quads, glutes and hamstrings more now since I’ve lost the weight. I am just so happy to have lost so much body fat SO QUICKLY and become more lean. It is only 41 days until I turn 40 and I want to be in the best shape ever – fit and 40!!!

*Did you reach your goals and aspirations?

Yes I did! At first my goal was 125 pounds, and then 120 – which I reached in the last few days of the contest! It is very empowering to be in control and to know you reached your goals. Buffmother and hormonal timing has made such a difference in my life! I will continue to set new goals and always be focused! This will help me so much through my last year of graduate school.

*Where do you see this challenge brought you?

I had PERFECT timing for this challenge….I had just joined Buffmother five weeks before the contest started, so I had enough time to begin to understand the program and had lost five pounds before the contest began. It helped me learn how to have a clean diet and effective workouts. I kept my focus because I am motivated by turning 40 soon and the contest was big motivation too!

*Do you have any lingering concerns?

My main concerns right now are maintaining the level where I’m at, continuing to improve and staying healthy. I feel very fortunate not to have any ailments or body parts that cause pain or bother me! I know I’m in for a busy year with my final year of graduate school, teaching full-time and being a mom! But with the confidence I have gained with the Buffmother program, I know I can do it!

*Do you feel you made an impact on your legacy during this contest?

Definitely! I have showed my family, and especially my daughter – that you can do whatever you set your mind to and you CAN transform your body through making healthy food choices and working out. I’ve always tried to help my kids eat healthier and now since I am leading the example, it is working better. I’ve actually gotten more interested in cooking now too! I want to show them how great it feels to be fit and healthy for life!

*What is your REASON for doing this, your WHY?

I wanted to make the commitment to myself for better health and longevity. I am a happier and more complete person when I look better and feel better! I want to instill these values in my children and be an inspiration to my nursing students that I teach and patients that I care for. My parents both died from cancer and my brother had two types of cancer, so I hope that by choosing a healthy lifestyle I can decrease my chances and be around for my children a lot longer!!!! The 40th birthday coming up was HUGE motivation too!

*Did you feel the support group helped you stay on track?

YES! I loved our group, the Buff and the Beautiful! I am SO PROUD of how everyone did in this contest and really enjoyed getting to know them better! I was a co-leader with Dayle and tried to keep everyone motivated by checking their blogs and posting replies. We had a conference call that was good – even though we all were not able to get on! Dayle was awesome as a co-leader – I learned a ton from her experience in the Rally Room and she is SO motivating!

*What tactics did you use to stay focused and engaged for the entire 70 days?

I just jumped in and tried to get really involved in the Rally Room and looked at everyone’s before and after pics from previous contests, and learned as much as I could about HT, eating clean, and a variety of workouts. I loved reading everyone’s blogs and become super motivated by reading them. I felt like I had a whole team of awesome women behind me cheering me on – you know those BUFFMOTHERS!!! 🙂 Lisa was the best resource ever too! I read Michelle’s incredible HT Book and After Baby Abs, and RE-read them – they was like my “Bible” that I lived by this summer! I spent a ton of time reading magazines like Oxygen and M&F Hers as well as Tosca Reno’s Eat Clean Diet Book and the Butt Book. I loved those too! Reading about fitness and nutrition inspires me A LOT and keeps me very focused.

*Did you reward yourself when you hit certain goals along the way?

I did recently by buying myself some new, smaller clothes that actually fit better! My absolute favorites are my Lucky jeans and capris – size 4!!!!! (also splurged on some new PINK Asics running shoes since I’ve been running so much!)

*What other thoughts are in your head at the moment?

I just am SO thrilled with my results and couldn’t be happier right now!!! I haven’t been in this good of shape since I was maybe 20 – okay – that’s almost 20 years ago now! WOW – I’m going to be 40 in about 40 days and feel in the best shape I have been since I was a teen! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

*Did you GET to know your body? Did you learn about your good c-days, your bad c-days, your weight fluctuations, etc…

Oh yes and I loved figuring it out! It is truly amazing how HT works. It totally makes sense. I was surprised to see my cycles get so much shorter, menses last a shorter amount of time, and less cramping! Learned to not worry about the bloating weight gain, and know that if I want to take off a couple pounds, I can do it! I’m a nurse and studying to be a nurse practitioner in women’s health more specifically, so this really intrigued me and is something I hope to help patients with someday. SO many women come in and want to lose weight! It is a common problem I will likely be dealing with a lot.

*Did anything surprise you?

Yes – that I actually could do it! And love it! I did it the RIGHT way too! NO starving myself or just eating salads all the time. I ate a ton this summer – every 3 hours – just more nutrient dense and clean eating foods that my body needs. It was not really that hard to stay away from the bad foods because I had a goal and was feeling SO good! I quit drinking Diet Dr. Pepper and drink a ton of water now – which I love! I used to drink several pops a day and even first thing in the am! I am also surprised at how much I absolutely love the Rally Room and what a great support that has been. The friendships made there are just very special and we all have something in common – the quest for fitness and healthy living. It’s enriched my life a ton by knowing all these incredible women, their trials and tribulations!

*Did anyone else’s impact you along the way?

Definitely!
Michelle – aka Buffmother – Need I say more? She is ONE superstar and is always so upbeat and full of fire! She is so smart to have figured this HT all out too! 🙂

Lisa – She is amazing! I so respect her for all she has done transforming her body and competing in figure! She introduced me to this, afterall. And she is just the fun, awesome same Lisa that was in my wedding and my college buddy!

Annie – She joined shortly after me and we figured out things together. We texted each other and talked a lot too! I learned a lot about clean eating and changing my diet as well as getting a lot of motivation from my friend of 14 years! Love all the NEBRASKA TEAM BUFFMOTHER girls!!! Looking forward to meeting more of them soon!

Dayle – She was the best co-leader I could have EVER have had on the Buff and Beautiful team. She was so energetic and positive all the time even having such a devastating loss in her family. She just amazes me!

Kermane, Linda, Leslie – Always blogging everyday and so good about sharing great information as well as cute and motivating comments!

Carrie Peck, Trish & Julie in CA – AWESOME! These girls are the BOMB to me! SO fun and positive all the time. They are inspire me! I love reading the competition stuff too.

Deanna, both Kims, Monica, Colleen (fitnblond5), Jessie, Karen in NJ – and other members of the Buff and Beautiful team – we ROCKED!!!! SO MANY others that I hope to get to know better soon as we continue on our fitness journey!!!! GOOD JOB BUFFMOTHERS! WE ARE ALL SUPERSTARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HERE IS MY BEFORE – 136lbs…Many more pics in my gallery and I did a photoshoot in a studio and will get those pics hopefully soon!!!!

Brenda of NE – I am very pleased with where I am at now, but I continue to have goals. I want to maintain, continue to build muscle, and increase my level of fitness. I am sooo proud to be 40 and in the best shape of my life!!

~~~~~~10 week www.BuffMother.com SSS contest results (Fall of 2009)~~~~~~~
Name: KQ Smith
Number of children and ages:
Age: 32
Why did you enter the SSS contest by BuffMother?
I entered b/c I am a BUFFMOTHER at heart and I wanted to use this competition to help me get back on track and continue working towards my goal which is competing in my first competition along with moving towards my goal of doing fitness modeling. This challenge has really helped me get myself refocused and I was able to start a Bootcamp at home and really get my personal training going.
What tactics did you use to stay focused and engaged for the entire 70 days?
I decided I was a winner and I was tired of complaining about my weight gain and I knew I had the ability to lose the weight and get myself jump started again. I have just really been taking this time as a reevaluation period and it has been WELL WORTH IT. I also used my boyfriend as a motivation. He believes in me completely and has stayed on me hardcore when it came to some of my bad habits like my snacking. I also used his desire to get back in shape to help me to b/c I have to keep myself on track if I’m going to help him get on track. I also refocused on hormonal timing again and getting paying close attention to my cycle and weight gain. How do you feel about your success? I am truly excited and overjoyed about my success. At one point I thought I had really fallen off the wagon and I was so hard on myself about getting back on but this challenged allowed me to focus and obtain my goals.
What obstacles did you have to overcome in order to attain your goals?
During the 70 days I experienced some great highs and some terrible lows by having crazy weight gains every now and then. I struggled with my issues that I call “drive-by snacking”. It’s not that I eat bad I tend to pop in the kitchen and grab some nuts, a piece of this, a piece of that and that all adds up unfortunately. I have also been traveling a lot during these last 70days and I have really worked hard at staying focused and on track by running and doing my workouts at the house, hotel or any gym I could find.
What would you like to tell the world about BuffMother ?
You already know I am a BUFFMOTHER thru and thru and I will preach it from the roof top. As I stated earlier I have really refocused myself on hormonal timing again. So much so that I know what CD day it is just by how I feel without even looking at the calendar. That is one of the best parts about this challenge which is KNOWING YOURSELF mentally & physically!!! That has to be one of the best parts of Buffmother besides creating the bonds with the other ladies who are going thru the same things as you are. Another great thing is the challenges b/c it forces you to have a starting point and to track your numbers that way you are able to see your success first hand b/c sometimes without the numbers and pictures we would drive ourselves nuts thinking we’re not getting anywhere and that’s exactly what I had been doing in the past. Most of all I will tell the world that I LOVE BUFFMOTHER AND I LOVE MICHELLE for bringing it to us!!
Golden Anniversary – 5 years!
It’s my 5 year anniversary today!!! www.BuffMother.com went online 5 years ago today!!! WOW!!
And what a journey it’s been.
I am back from “vacation” and fired up to start my new year today~ I am going to start the day off with writing a TO DO list…and YES it will be HUGE!!! Then my plan is to whittle it down to about 5 actionable items and get them DONE!!  This week will be a bunch of “catching up” but I am up for the task and actually relieved.  The past 3 weeks “off” has taught me I need to be busy or I go a bit stir crazy, lol!!
I’ve taken the last 3 out of 4 days off of working out due to the holiday and my booty issues.  I’m not so sure that time off is helping it feel better??  I wonder if sitting on my butt makes it actually worse, lol!  So the plan today is to go ahead and do a workout, then I’ll head to the chiro at about 2:15 to get a professional’s opinion on the situation.
It’s been a blast to see and read so many of your AWESOME posts these past few days about how excited you are to get after your fitness goals again!! I love that excitement!!  YOU fire me up to want to go workout BIG TIME!!  Let’s keep that excitment HIGH!!!
A great way that I keep my mojo is to strive to comment on blogs …it keeps my mind engaged and exictied about having other friends that share my common mission to be a good example!!  I love it!!  Catching up with all of my friends in the Rally Room will be in one of the top spots on my TO DO LIST today!!
God Bless you!!!
Love, Michelle
*Was wearing size 8-10 in clothing (pants, jeans…now can fit into size 4’s, 3’s and 2’s!!!!!) I love this change!!!!!
*Where are you in your journey?
I am very pleased with where I am at now. I want to MAINTAIN where I am at and continue to build muscle too. I plan to work on sculpting my abs, quads, glutes and hamstrings more now since I’ve lost the weight. I am just so happy to have lost so much body fat SO QUICKLY and become more lean. It is only 41 days until I turn 40 and I want to be in the best shape ever – fit and 40!!!
*Did you reach your goals and aspirations?
Yes I did! At first my goal was 125 pounds, and then 120 – which I reached in the last few days of the contest! It is very empowering to be in control and to know you reached your goals. Buffmother and hormonal timing has made such a difference in my life! I will continue to set new goals and always be focused! This will help me so much through my last year of graduate school.
*Where do you see this challenge brought you?
I had PERFECT timing for this challenge….I had just joined Buffmother five weeks before the contest started, so I had enough time to begin to understand the program and had lost five pounds before the contest began. It helped me learn how to have a clean diet and effective workouts. I kept my focus because I am motivated by turning 40 soon and the contest was big motivation too!
*Do you have any lingering concerns?
My main concerns right now are maintaining the level where I’m at, continuing to improve and staying healthy. I feel very fortunate not to have any ailments or body parts that cause pain or bother me! I know I’m in for a busy year with my final year of graduate school, teaching full-time and being a mom! But with the confidence I have gained with the Buffmother program, I know I can do it!
*Do you feel you made an impact on your legacy during this contest?
Definitely! I have showed my family, and especially my daughter – that you can do whatever you set your mind to and you CAN transform your body through making healthy food choices and working out. I’ve always tried to help my kids eat healthier and now since I am leading the example, it is working better. I’ve actually gotten more interested in cooking now too! I want to show them how great it feels to be fit and healthy for life!
*What is your REASON for doing this, your WHY?
I wanted to make the commitment to myself for better health and longevity. I am a happier and more complete person when I look better and feel better! I want to instill these values in my children and be an inspiration to my nursing students that I teach and patients that I care for. My parents both died from cancer and my brother had two types of cancer, so I hope that by chosing a healthy lifestyle I can decrease my chances and be around for my children a lot longer!!!! The 40th birthday coming up was HUGE motivation too!
*Did you feel the support group helped you stay on track?
YES! I loved our group, the Buff and the Beautiful! I am SO PROUD of how everyone did in this contest and really enjoyed getting to know them better! I was a co-leader with Dayle and tried to keep everyone motivated by checking their blogs and posting replies. We had a conference call that was good – even though we all were not able to get on! Dayle was awesome as a co-leader – I learned a ton from her experience in the Rally Room and she is SO motivating!
*What tactics did you use to stay focused and engaged for the entire 70 days?
I just jumped in and tried to get really involved in the Rally Room and looked at everyone’s before and after pics from previous contests, and learned as much as I could about HT, eating clean, and a variety of workouts. I loved reading everyone’s blogs and become super motivated by reading them. I felt like I had a whole team of awesome women behind me cheering me on – you know those BUFFMOTHERS!!! 🙂 Lisa was the best resource ever too! I read Michelle’s incredible HT Book and After Baby Abs, and RE-read them – they was like my “Bible” that I lived by this summer! I spent a ton of time reading magazines like Oxygen and M&F Hers as well as Tosca Reno’s Eat Clean Diet Book and the Butt Book. I loved those too! Reading about fitness and nutrition inspires me A LOT and keeps me very focused.
*Did you reward yourself when you hit certain goals along the way?
I did recently by buying myself some new, smaller clothes that actually fit better! My absolute favorites are my Lucky jeans and capris – size 4!!!!! (also splurged on some new PINK Asics running shoes since I’ve been running so much!)
*What other thoughts are in your head at the moment?
I just am SO thrilled with my results and couldn’t be happier right now!!! I haven’t been in this good of shape since I was maybe 20 – okay – that’s almost 20 years ago now! WOW – I’m going to be 40 in about 40 days and feel in the best shape I have been since I was a teen! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
*Did you GET to know your body? Did you learn about your good c-days, your bad c-days, your weight fluctuations, etc…
Oh yes and I loved figuring it out! It is truly amazing how HT works. It totally makes sense. I was surprised to see my cycles get so much shorter, menses last a shorter amount of time, and less cramping! Learned to not worry about the bloating weight gain, and know that if I want to take off a couple pounds, I can do it! I’m a nurse and studying to be a nurse practitioner in women’s health more specifically, so this really intrigued me and is something I hope to help patients with someday. SO many women come in and want to lose weight! It is a common problem I will likely be dealing with a lot.
*Did anything surprise you?
Yes – that I actually could do it! And love it! I did it the RIGHT way too! NO starving myself or just eating salads all the time. I ate a ton this summer – every 3 hours – just more nutrient dense and clean eating foods that my body needs. It was not really that hard to stay away from the bad foods because I had a goal and was feeling SO good! I quit drinking Diet Dr. Pepper and drink a ton of water now – which I love! I used to drink several pops a day and even first thing in the am! I am also surprised at how much I absolutely love the Rally Room and what a great support that has been. The friendships made there are just very special and we all have something in common – the quest for fitness and healthy living. It’s enriched my life a ton by knowing all these incredible women, their trials and tribulations!
*Did anyone else’s impact you along the way?
Definitely!
Michelle – aka Buffmother – Need I say more? She is ONE superstar and is always so upbeat and full of fire! She is so smart to have figured this HT all out too! 🙂
Lisa – She is amazing! I so respect her for all she has done transforming her body and competing in figure! She introduced me to this, afterall. And she is just the fun, awesome same Lisa that was in my wedding and my college buddy!
Annie – She joined shortly after me and we figured out things together. We texted each other and talked a lot too! I learned a lot about clean eating and changing my diet as well as getting a lot of motivation from my friend of 14 years! Love all the NEBRASKA TEAM BUFFMOTHER girls!!! Looking forward to meeting more of them soon!
Dayle – She was the best co-leader I could have EVER have had on the Buff and Beautiful team. She was so energetic and positive all the time even having such a devastating loss in her family. She just amazes me!
Kermane, Linda, Leslie – Always blogging everyday and so good about sharing great information as well as cute and motivating comments!
Carrie Peck, Trish & Julie in CA – AWESOME! These girls are the BOMB to me! SO fun and positive all the time. They are inspire me! I love reading the competition stuff too.
Deanna, both Kims, Monica, Colleen (fitnblond5), Jessie, Karen in NJ – and other members of the Buff and Beautiful team – we ROCKED!!!! SO MANY others that I hope to get to know better soon as we continue on our fitness journey!!!! GOOD JOB BUFFMOTHERS! WE ARE ALL SUPERSTARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HERE IS MY BEFORE – 136lbs…Many more pics in my gallery and I did a photoshoot in a studio and will get those pics hopefully soon!!!!
