Sunday, not a rest day :(

I’ve not been good about taking the weekends off of work recently. This weekend especially!  Just so much going on…BUT I’m determined to take next weekend off entirely!

That’s a good goal for sure!

Let’s see…I need to recap the past week:

Sun: no workout

Mon: SICK, tummy flu

Wed: short workout some upper body stuff and tried to run

Thurs: Killer leg day
Fri: just 20 mins bike, but I rode hard– felt great power in my legs

Sat: Back, Shoulders, Abs and Interval run

Not the week I had planned, but it ended on a high note… and I have no clue what I did on tuesday?

 

Next week, I’ll do much better:

It was a good, long lifting workout and afterward I ran hard! It was really good since my legs were fresh from not running all week!t…2 miles in 6:14 first 2 1min intervals at 8mph with 6 recovery next 5 1min at 9 with 7 recovery. Ended with 2 min cool down fueled by www.GymAngel.com Energy supplement. I’m really liking the effects of it!
Time for me to go workout now…I did 30 mins fasted bike this morning. Now it’s time to lift Chest/Triceps and I may throw some biceps in there- didn’t give them much attention yesterday.

Rays of LIGHT!

We’ve had very little sunshine here this month…the forcast keeps calling for sunshine, but then it’s overcast all day or decides to RAIN? BUT today, right now it’s sunny!! YAY!!

Today is Day #6 of our contest– “FEAR of Bulking”?? ~Day #6 HH~

My plan is to enjoy the outdoors for several hours today, then get in a good solid BACK workout + some intervals.  Not sure what the intervals will be except for that they will not be RUNNING.

Yesterday, I did fasted cardio on the upright bike for 25mins; then did some walking and jogging on the treadmill followed by some plyo work- lots of jumping!  Then, I ran hills– Did them a bit different.  I ran to the bottom of our hill, then up for 1 min/down for 1 min x5 times then upped my recovery time to 2 mins (1walking/1running) in between the final 3 hills.  It was a good fun different way to do it! After the run I did some HIGH KNEES, a few lunges and booty pops in the mirror.

Yesterday’s topic was below the butt!

I also tested my hip flexor a bit– I think it’s ready to try sprinting again!!

Thursday got crazy busy so somehow I ran out of time to do my full leg workout– the good news is that I did get in my HEAVY Squats.  My best set was 175×6 after which I thought- I’m gonna try 185#– only did it 1time…but IT COUNTS!! My knees and hips can tell I upped the weight.

off my HINEY

Yesterday was cycle day 23…enough said, lol!  No seriously it wasn’t bad at all…I actually had a good day! Today in contrast has already been a hormonal struggle~ I must remember “It’s just my HORMONES!”…Chill out Michelle!

My butt habit to incorporate~ Lift heavier! I’ve been in “recovery mode” from a neck injury for the past couple months…now that I am healthy again it’s time to challenge myself on the weights.  Lower reps and higher weights~ Heavy lifting provides amazing muscle growth!

My butt habit to eliminate~ Sitting! get off my HINEY! I’ll be using my standing work station

 

Yesterday, I was really  sore and tired from Sunday’s track workout. But I did manage to do a short back workout

Bent over DB Lat rows- 2 sets Inverted Pull ups- 4 sets Ab Wheel- 1 set Lateral and front raises- 10#plates 1 set Bicep Curls- 2 sets Pull ups- one set of 8

 

Today my plan is to lift Chest/triceps/Abs and run hill intervals. I also need to take my butt starting pictures!

 

Off to get off my HINEY! I’ll be using my standing work station a lot over the next 3 weeks!

  1. How do I feel the 28 days of Christmas Challenge helped me during the crazy holiday season?
    The contest helped through a lot of stress this time of year. Gave me something to focus on instead of worrying about things I wasn’t in control of right now. I am someone who loves     to give gifts. Deciding, finding, and giving a gift is one of my favorite things to do. We had to cut back a lot this year, so I was unable to ‘give’ as much as I would have liked. The     contest helped me deal with the situation and focus on things that matter more than monetary things. The kids stepped up and helped as well. A great holiday!
  1. Summarize my performance in this contest…
    I realized early on during this contest that even though I was working out most days I wasn’t pushing myself as hard as I could. Reading other Buffmother posts helped me see that.     So I began looking for and planning tougher workouts. Now I am trying new gadgets and heavier weights. Trying hard to think outside the box and give it all I got. Thanks,     Buffmothers!
  1. Are you happy with your results?
     I was very consistent and on track with my workouts throughout the challenge. Had a strong start with my eats, but had trouble Christmas week. Getting back on     track as type this. This is my 2nd contest and I always feel that my results could have been better. I put a ton of effort into the contest, but there is always something I could have     done differently or better. Always a work in progress. So overall I am happy with the things I have learned along the way, but I can do better each day.
  1. Encouraged by? Denyse W. and Suzi V.. I love our dynamics as a group. We work well together for accountability and encouragement. Inspired by? Robin W.. I love her enthusiasm, dedication and sense of humor. She has been a great addition to the group. I look forward to seeing how far she can go.

  1. In closing: As usual, I thoroughly enjoyed the contest. It is an amazing thing to have so many wonderful women to discuss common interests with and help those women when they need a word of encouragement. I enjoyed the workout proof pics. A great add on to this contest. Gave us a chance to show a different side to ourselves, open up and be creative. The occasional questions you passed along to us was helpful to me as well. They made me pause and think. I started a separate journal to keep those answers to look over when I need to regroup or refocus. I’ve made so many great friends these past 6 months. Can’t thank you enough, Michelle Berger, for changing my life. I have my goals set for the new year and a renewed focus on what I want from my life. Thank you!

RESET!

HI! So…I’ve missed you! BUT, I needed to reset my addiciton to the computer. I have this thing where I get “sucked in” and end up spending countless unproductive hours on the computer. From time to time a taking a BREAK from it entirely really helps get me back to being in BALANCE with it all.

I’m still trying to formulate my plan of attack for the year and my RESOLUTIONS. I’m feeling a bit of “growing pains” in my life right now– having to let go of some fun goals and replacing them with other more challenging ones. I’m trying to figure it out….

Workouts have been good since I got back from Tampa. Saturday I did Leg, Sunday I did Chest and Yesterday I was too sore to hardly move! I took the day off, but did manage to set up a shooting range and shoot a couple rounds of my hand gun 🙂

Then today I felt the urge to workout early- I was in my gym at 8:40 am! That’s REALLY EARLY for me to workout. I did a Back workout and 20 mins on bike.

Anyhow, Travis took a vacation day today…so I’ve gotta go for now. We may head to the LIVESTOCK AUCTIONS…never been there before– should be interesting!

Gunner’s a TEEN!!

We’ll my son is 13 today!! wow!! that means I must be getting older, lol!  BUT not without a fight!

Look at how cute he was when he was 4

I just got done with intervals on the treadmill + some lat pulls. 30 mins total on tread mill- average of 7 mph– intervals at 8 and 9 mph, most incline at 2 some at 4. I wore these shorts– I like them, do you?

Yesterday I did a short back workout- inverted pull ups, bent over lat rows, shoulder press with barbell,  roman chair knee ups, 5 mins on the bike and 5 mins on my hoppity hop 🙂

That was all I could muster since I was dying from TOM…I feel much better today on cycle day 2.  Weighed in higher today at 133 (probably salty stir fry = hormones+ I had a bit more carbs in the form of rice and terriaki sauce)

Tuesday I got in a chest workout at noon then at 8pm ran 6 hills (1min long ones) and 4 fast sprints (100m)– first time I sprinted in a while. Feel it!

5 o’clock whistle blows– SOON!

Is today REALLY Friday?? LOL!!

Today’s workout so far was a super hot one!! I ran hills outside- got 6 in before I died from the heat.  4 hours later I’m still feeling sweaty from it, lol!  Anyhow– I may do legs in a bit, but only if I have time.  Got some work to do before the 5 o’clock whistle blows!!  After my run I made a yummy lunch-

Salmon mixed into a salad with eggs, tomatoes, onion, celery, cilantro and a bit of miracle whip.

So…this week I’ve been on track with my plan to lift 6 days– It’s been tough, but I’m feeling my muscles come back to life!  I have to fly to MN to “retrieve” my kids on Tuesday- then drive home on Thurs/Friday, so If I can stay consistent with my workouts with the traveling I’ll be super impressed with myself! 

Well, I’ve gotta get to it, just 3 hours left before the weekend!!

This week has been so busy, I worked so hard Mon, Tues and Wed to catch up on my work after the holiday vacation, that by today I was beat! I had to go back to bed for a couple hours after the kids left for school ….I guess that’s why I call them “Tired Thursdays”. I expect that tomorrow I’ll feel like a new woman; It’ll be cycle day 3 and It’s FRIDAY!! Buffing is almost here!! The BEST Week of my month is ahead~ watch out world~!

I finally managed to my booty out of bed just before 10…so that I could call a my Buff-Sister Sherry. She’s such a hoot and really GETS ME. Anyway, we spend some time talking about how excited we are for 2012 and how we love, love, love all our BuffMother-Sisters!! :bff: It’s true, we believe we will all be Best Friends FOREVER!

After my talk with her, I had another really interesting business phone call. I can’t share too much about it just yet, but It’s really good stuff for all parties involved. I can’t wait to get that project rolling!! I love all the energy for fitness that people have during the new year…I sure hope this momentum lasts through the winter!

Gunner and I got in our back workout and a short run too this afternoon. It’s good that we’ve gotten 3 workouts done so far this week and now he’s been “initiated” on each body part. Tomorrow when we workout we’ll do some things he’s already done~ which means less work for me!

On a personal front my head is spinning….I have so many things I “want to” get done and an ever increasing workload that shows no sign of slowing down. I may actually be at the point of being ready to hire myself an assistant! I’m talking about a real in flesh person in my office to help me get things DONE! It would be so nice to have a capable helper!

Sorry this is such a “journal” type post…I’m just too tired to be creative tonight. My plan is to snuggle up and watch some good tv tonight!

5 Days!!!

5 days left until I am in CANCUN!!! I am so excited to get away from it all and just chill!

It’s a busy, busy time for me!! I honestly don’t think it’s possible for me to get any busier.  I have a running to do list that is growing faster than I can whittle it down.  I must remember to BREATHE and drink my water–left typing just now to chug a BIG 32oz. glass–One reason why I am more busy than my usual CHAOTIC state is that I am trying to “PRE-DO” all my work, etc…this week in prep for my vacation next week. Another reason why I feel so swamped is my 3 girls are actually off school today.

Here’s a list of some items I have been able to complete the past couple days:

  • Walmart trip- Major grociereis and school supplies for Gunner
  • Football Practice for Gunner
  • Got a plumber to fix my bathroom part of the way…the remainder needs to be completed AFTER the parts I ordered come in
  • Had a productive business meeting with a rep
  • Had some awesome coaching phone calls with Viki,Sherry and Kathy!!
  • Got in a great back workout with the hubby
     

Today has been a good day and the plan is to hit the gym now for a tan and a killer run!! I can’t believe it’s already day 12 of our “Thin in 30” contest~ It’s gone by SO fast!!! whoohoo!!! cheerleaders
