You are NOT a Superhero

Hey it’s Michelle and I have another fit marriage tip for you.  Today, my message is clear, you are not a superhero!!

You are not indestructible;  you are not a superhero!
Don’t ever think that just because you wear the badge of marriage that you are
not to be able to succumb to any temptations that would ruin your sacred vows.
My point is this, If you go through life thinking you’re indestructible when you aren’t
you’re going to find yourself in situations that may hurt you. Situtations
that may hurt your spouse and ones that may actually really, really damaging that
marriage of yours!  Please don’t the don’t believe you are exempt from temptation, don’t believe it for a second!  You’re not a
superhero,  you’re not indestructible!
Instead make sure that you’re wearing your protective gear. By that I mean constantly
being on the lookout. And constantly check yourself, ask yourself
…am i acting out in a bad way?
….am I am i doing something that I shouldn’t be doing?
….am I promoting this relationship with this person that maybe is a little sketchy?
or am i may be flirting too much with this certain person?
Just because you are wearing a wedding band do not think you’re indestructible,  everyone is is tempted from time to
time but if you think you’re indestructible you may just give into that temptation and sin.
No one goes into marriage thinking,  “oh I’m going to be an adulterer, for sure.
yeah,  that’s what I’m going to do it I’m just gonna go and cheat on my
spouse like crazy!”
No one thinks that right?? Yet it happens all the time!
My suggestion is to accept the fact you are human and  realize you do have the potential to cheat within you…but you won’t because you
will be on guard at all times for it’s potential. That way you are not blind-sighted by the situation.
I put my guard up all times, I stay strong and I recognize I am human however I will not fall, I will not sub-come to these stupid temptations.
I’m gonna be honest with myself,  so I’m going to stay above board!
If everI feel for a second that I’m tempted beyond what I can handle
I will run the other direction a million miles an hour!!
I know I am not indestructible, I am NOT a superhero.
Please make sure you stay real with yourself.  Be honest about what’s going on with your
relationships with other human beings that are not your spouse!  Stay clean,
keep those vows and have a great marriage!!
LOVE YA!!
Your BuffMother, Michelle Berger

Be the change you want in your spouse -marriage tip

So the mantra, “be the change you want to see in the world” is really big right now….
Let’s take it one step further and change that to “be the change you want to see your
Spouse!” all the time as a personal trainer,  I have husbands or wives asked me,  “What can i do
to get my spouse excited about eating healthy,  losing weight and get in shape?”
My answer is …do it yourself,  lead by example, be the change you want to see in them and I bet you pretty
much anything that they’re gonna follow suit!!  They’re going to get inspired.
They’re gonna go start learning along with you. They’re going to see the
results you are having and get jealous for some themselves.  They will think hey he’s looking really good maybe
I should you know get out there and get some work out on myself or lose 15 pounds too!

The great thing about being the CHANGE you want to SEE IN YOUR SPOUSE is that it works for whatever it is you want to see change.
whether it’s fitness, spirituality, being kinder
being a more outgoing
more sexual
more financially responsible
more patient
etc…
If you want to see change in your spouse, simply take a little step back to ask, “what can i do to be the change I want to see my spouse?”  Be honest with yourself, are you currently an example they can emulate or are you being a hypocrite?
Take on the change you want them to emulate. Be determined to show them how awesome it is be “that change” and it works!!  It’s applicable to so many different things!!
Be the change yourself!  They’re going to notice, learn and experience through your example.
It might take time, effort and patience but definitely worth it!
Good luck with being your best so your spouse can be their best!!
Please, let me know what you think of this tip below
thank you!

“MAINTENANCE” is a myth

Each and every new month, I like to give myself a theme and set specific goals for my fitness.  I am a big believer that “MAINTENANCE” is a myth- we are either moving forward or backwards in life, and more specifically in our fitness!

My goal is to keep the mojo I’ve gained over the past couple months!

I have 2 specific fitness goals:

1- I want to stay excited for Tennis…I’ve changed my lesson day to Tues and added in a FRIDAY Drills day!!  the extra time on the court will help me to keep progressing!!

2- Based upon my “after” photos from the SSS I need to  be STAUNCH about work my legs/booty HARD at least 2x’s a week !!

As for a theme of the month…I am all over sharing success stories.  I’ve had good intentions for a long time about this goal– but keep putting it off and being lax about updating www.BuffMother.com with them.  NO MORE– this month is all about giving PROPS to some amazing TEAM BUFFMOTHER ladies.

Speaking of which, I continue to get SSS contest entries (I’ve emailed confirmation to everyone whom I’ve received) !! thanks so much for all the effort and kind words!! The SSS was a SUCCESS!!  The last day to get your entry in is MONDAY the 5th.

This week has been a bit of a mish, mosh for workouts– nothing structured, just doing whatever I want.  I’ll start back to more of a set routine come next week-

Monday- tennis with my girls

Tues- Push ups and other chest exercises, plus some squats, a short run + 4 sprints

Wed- Tennis and Trampoline, Did photos, Walk during trick or treat-

Yesterday I did a mish mosh of exercises– Bench, shoulder press, bicep curls, dips, dead lifts, abs

TGIF ladies, I’m heading out for my run in a bit– it’s very nice here today!

Love,

Michelle

Workin’ Weekend???

It’s been awhile since I’ve forced myself to work on the weekend. These last few months I’ve done everything possible to position myself to be “OFF” come 5 oclock on Friday– But this week has been so busy and I have work left to be done– I’ll have to work this weekend!  I’m hoping it’ll just be Saturday, but I may need to take some time on Sunday to get everything finished.   What do you think about having to work weekends??

The birthday day was a success yesterday…Gunner had a good day and was in a fabulous mood!! He’s continuing the celebration today with having a friend over and hitting a paintball range tomorrow– He also wants to go to see the BATMAN movie– not sure that’ll happen??  Anyhow, I did good on my diet the until about 5pm last night. Then cheated with a not so healthy dinner and later with cake and ice cream.

Sometimes cheating on your diet can be used for a positive- I plan to use the birthday cake and ice cream to help fuel my leg workout today!

Photo: Day #4-FIT tip- Stay hydrated with fun interesting options other than just plain water. 1- add lime or lemon juice to your water. 2-try adding fruit or veggie slices( ex. watermelon, cucumbers) to your water and refrigerate it a bit. 3- green tea, black tea, herbal tea hot or cold are great alternatives to plain water...you may find it best to opt for the NON-caffeinated varieties. Day #4-Featured ARTICLE- http://buffmother.com/?p=57
We’ll I’m off to get after the work I have to do…I sure hope that if you have to work this weekend, you’ll try to at least enjoy the journey a bit.
That’s my plan!
See you later~

Baby got BACK!

Photo: Baby got BACK!! ...today I'll be hitting the gym for a back, shoulder, bicep workout with ABS (of course) and intervals on the elliptical~ ROCK IT!!

I can’t believe I didn’t post here yesterday??? it felt like I was posting like crazy, lol!  The excitement from the “40 days to FIT” has me commenting like crazy on those posts and on facebook.

Yesterday, I worked in the morning, got my lifting (chest) workout in around lunch time and they headed into town (30 mins away).  It  went well minus a minor melt down by my 10 year old DD, I swear she was suffering HIF (Hormone Induced Failure).  My family seems to follow my hormonal cycle and with it being cycle day 27 they were running rampant!  All 4 kids got their hair cuts done yesterday, plus I got to see my friend Emily!!  She had an appointment after us with the same hair dresser.  It’s so fun to see friends!!

After the cuts we went to “JUSTICE”…the girls favorite store, Gracie was looking for something specific she found online, but the store didn’t have it and the melt down ensued (tears and frustration so bad she hid in the dressing room).  Forced to leave empty handed, the kids were bummed….so I got them shakes at Chick-fil-a and I got chicken strips and cole slaw 🙂  I was very proud that I resisted MY urge for ICE CREAM!! YAY!!

Then we headed to find football cleats for Gunner– he’s getting so big (his 13th birthday is tomorrow).  He found a pair quickly, which ROCKED.  They are gigantic- size 10!  We looked around at bows a bit and then headed to finish our errands (bank, post office, po box, groceries) and get HOME.

I was BEAT when we finally got home– made spaghetti and cheated with the “insides” of a piece of garlic toast.  I was starving but, I had a run to do before I could truly eat– that BREAD made me so SLEEPY!  I sat down on my bed and almost fell asleep…felt like a coma was coming on for about 45mins.  It took all my guts and sheer will to force myself outside for my run.  Even halfway through it, I felt horrible, but by the end my endorphins kicked in and I felt great!

I am so proud that I’ve stuck to my POA all week- during Boosting no less!!!! I’ve also kept my carbs to 2 per day and I feel the hard work paying off.  The scale did go down just a tish more today…I’m at 130.8– which is great since it’s cycle dayt 28 and last week I was 135!

My day is shaping up to be very busy– but at least I don’t have to drive much or run errands 🙂 That kills me!

Work-it hard this Wednesday!!

Love ya,

Michelle

ENJOY!~ Shine in 49: Day 14

Now is the time to ENJOY…

Your LIFE,
Your Friends,
Your Family,
Your Passions, etc…

Now is the time to ENJOY!
But how?  That was my question to myself today.  Somehow my life has turned into a big list of “responsibilities” and “to do lists” that are too often empty and not enjoyable.  THAT’s not good!
I want to enjoy life; I want to even be able to enjoy doing chores….I definitely want to enjoy spending time with my loved ones!  What steps do I need to take to re-ignite my JOY in life?  Well…the first step I took was to “google it”!

Here are some of the top tips I found on “how to enjoy life” that struck a chord with me:

  1. Focus on your “why”- my why is to know and serve God;  and to help give women HOPE.
  2. Connect with loved ones- family and friends
  3. go outside- for a hike, to read, to write, to run, to play
  4. NEW- learn something new, eat something new, go someplace new, meet a new friend
  5. create a DREAM list- what have you always DREAMED of doing…take actions towards those dreams
  6. Music- listen to it, hum it, sing it, play it, etc..
  7. Slow Down!  Breathe!
  8. QUIT…quit doing things you really detest doing
  9. LAUGH!!!  watch AFV~!

I am off to implement these…hope you ENJOY the rest of your Day!!

xoxox,
Michelle

This Week’s “Weekly Question”:

Who’s your BEST friend? Why? What do you do together?

My Answer:

My best friend is hands down my husband. No friend of mine has ever been even close to THE BEST compared to him. We are so compatible in every way! WE think alike about almost every topic -Religion, Politics, Money, Business, Family, Values, etc…. WE also LAUGH at the same stupid things. Our all time favorite movie is “Dumb and Dumber” …we’ve watched that movie together at least 6 times and laugh harder each TIME!! Travis and I “DO” a lot together~ We talk a lot, work together, workout together, sleep together, watch sports together, play together, eat together… basically we do almost everything together!! I love my best friend!!

Who’s your BEST friend? Why? What do you do together?
